Alright, so I have been looking at some new speakers/subs/amps to get a grasp for prices. Goal of this thread is to just get some possible alternatives (better/same) to what I am looking at now. The current build is roughly $1400, I do not want to exceed $1500. Research I have done by reading posts on caraudio.com proves to me that JL Audio is still pretty dope. Rockford is over-priced. Build a custom box. Keeping all that in mind, this is my list of current things.

Subwoofer Amp: Rockford Fosgate P1000X2 - $350

Subwoofer x2: JL Audio 12W3v3-2 (12W3v3) - $200 /per speaker

Doorspeaker Amp: Rockford Fosgate R400-4D - $150

Doorspeaker x4: Rockford Fosgate PPS4-6 - $50 /per speaker

I will be designing a custom box for the subwoofers. Plan is to get a 3-channel head unit just in case I upgrade to a four subwoofers/two amp setup in the future. Also I will pick up tweeters, but I am not even sure what to look for in tweeters yet.

Any suggestions on what I should swap out? Any better/cheaper alternatives? Recommendations?

Rockford is WAY overpriced (which you already know) and you can get better subs than those JL's for the money.

If you are aware that RF is overpriced, why do you still plan to buy from them??

I have not purchased any speakers since my highschool days. I only know Rockford (and now JL), that is what Highschool kids do... haha I am not sure what an alternative would be to Rockford is my problem.

As far as subs go, Soundqubed is a great value. They sell high quality subwoofers without the rediculous price. If space is limited and you want to get the most out of your box volume, sundown subs are great. The X and Z series will sound great in small boxes (ported or sealed). Sundown subs are fantastic at reproducing super low frequency sound. If you want to get great subs and have the box space, Tantric or DD are good options. Tantric is slightly more expensive than sundown and DD is a little more. Sundown subs will also do good in large boxes if made correctly.

As far as amps, Hifonics is good clean power that is cheap. Soundqubed, Sundown, DD, MA, Crecendo, Zapco, and MA audio have more expensive amps that are really good quality.

I'd say everything I listed would be a better buy than Rockford. DD is super expensive, but if you get used equipment, I'd say its worth the money.

After going through your post history, I found the Soundqubed subs! Thank you though for giving me some more details.

I seen Hifonics around the web, but was not sure of quality. I will look into Hifonics and your above mentioned as well. This was a perfect response, thanks!

No problem! Hifonics is CEA rated, so they have to put out rated power

Agree. Soundqubed is a good company to deal with. I've had no issues with any of my orders along with DD also.
