comparing my alpine to sony sound

Ok. heres the deal. i use to have a sony hu, then upgraded to a nice alpine 9855. but the thing was, i was more happy with the sound that my sony gave out with its "vocal" eq setting. the alpine gives out a more monotone more quiet sound. i like the sony cuz it was a lot louder and more clear. now i know u can tune everything on the alpine with time correction and crazy eq stuff, but i dont know how to do it. or should i mess with my 4 channel amp? thanks

run your eqs' on the deck and set the filter on the amp to 'through'.
