After spending all day at work yesterday reading all the threads I could find on 8" subs and quality amps I think I might have found a few winning combinations crazy:
I have a 99 pont. ***** am with custom fiberglass box for the rear driver storage compartment for one 8" sub. It is roughly .62 cu ft. (i'm not at home to get the exact cubes yet) I listen mostly to rock and classic rock and some rap and country. I am looking for fairly loud but still retaining a good sq.
I am up in the air between the RL-i and assassins. I know there is a fair amount of difference in price but that isn't a big problem. I'm more concerned about getting a sub that will work with the box I have. I have always like the sound of a ported box but I have read that sealed is better for sq. I was looking for some insight as to what would be possible with my box and the two sub options.
As far as amps I'm thinking an old school soundstream. I have heard some pretty good things about them on this forum and I owned a rubicon back in the day and thought it was pretty good. I am looking for one around $150 or so and around 500W or 600W at 4 ohm bridged. I am figureing if I would go with the assassins the are single 4 ohm so I will have plenty of extra power to upgrade if I choose. I was wondering if someone could tell me more about two specific models and if they would be a good choic for the subs above.
SOUNDSTREAM PICASSO PIC2.880 2 CH CAR AMP AMPLIFIER NEW (Was this amp produce before the SS buy out???)
Soundstream Van Gogh VGA 400.2
sorry about the length trying to cover everything. I really would appreciate any comments or suggestion you guys can give! P.S. I would like to stay around $200 to $300 dollars.
