Hey all, I’ve been lurking for a while getting acquainted with everything to know… Appreciate the wealth of knowledge found here.
Recently bought an Audi A4 2006 with bose *premium* (lol) sound package. Of course I’ve never liked bose’s signature and I’m looking to completely redo the system.
My budget is around $2000 CAD and want the best SQ for that price (house/hip-hop my genres) and not concerned with how loud the bass is, instead, wanting it being able to punch – DIY is a no-go as I’m not willing to tinker around with the wiring in the audi eg. In-dash display, steering wheel connectivity, etc.
I went to both Visions and a local shop around here and both built me a system that I’m looking to get comments on:
Visions 2344.90 after tax:
Head Unit: JVC AVX 820
Amp: Alpine PDX-5
Front components 6 ½” JL C-2 650
Rears 6 ½” stock (bose)
Sub&Box 10”: JL10W0V24 (10” JL Audio)
Local shop $2220.00 after tax:
Head Unit: JVC AVX 820
Amp: Aviator AA966 - $525
*6 channel, 2 front 2 back, and bridged to sub
60Wx4 + 90 Wx2 RMS @ 4 oh
90Wx4 + 130W x 2 RMS @ 2ohm
180Wx2 + 260W x 1 rms @ 4 ohm
Front/Rear comps 6 ½ Dragster DSZ-652 $579/per
*90w Rms 180w peak
Sub&Box: 10” AVI (Canadian based company) $100+100 for box
Now a couple comments myself… Dragsters are a Italian based audio company and basically out of reach in America, I believe Canada has the only distributors. They are comparable to Focal. So they’re reputable if the name is unknown to you. Aviator is a sister company of Dragster.
Also, should I go for higher model front comps and neglect the rears (leave ‘em bose?) as I hear it will cause further distortion this way.
Initially wanted a DVD player, as for the larger display to read tracks and visuals while playing music… but that’s not set in stone.. the eclipse head-units look pretty enough imo to justify the increase in SQ and functionality in tuning but would need a removable unit and bluetooth.
MUCH APPRECIATED for any responses.
Thanks guys
