Clipping indicators?

mehh mine flashed like a disco ball. Its way to sensitive. I mean it does not tell between a soft clip and a hard clip. I didnt wry about it. Pulled my subs to sell and coils were perfect but based on the light I had been clipping them to death for over a YEAR.

The clip light just indicates rail voltage is same as output voltage... so if you play a louder song you will reach that point sooner.

so if you played a -10db sine then a -5dB sine wave the clip light would come on sooner with the -5dB, even though they are clean non clipped sine waves.

The software we use to find the dB level of bass averages .4-.5seconds, no less... so even though we might say music never goes past -3dB, for split seconds like kick drums it will be near 0dB, again lighting the indicator sooner because rail voltage was met

I would pull the HU and bench test it. Can be done with a 12v battery on a non-metal work bench easily enough.
