Hello,
I have just put in my subs for the millionth time because I blew my amp and then I got tired of them and for other reasons I keep taking them out and putting them back in...anyways, i left all of the wires attached and in place because I knew I would want to put my subs back in sometime and the time was today, so I thought. I have a pioneer head unit, 2 1200w 12" sony xplod subs run by a kenwood amp( i think it is a 1500w amp but im not sure), and I also have a .5 farad scosch capacitor wired into the system. I am using raptor 4 guage wire for both the power and the ground and 10 guage from the amp to the subs.I have it wired in this order:
car battery -> capacitor -> 100amp fuse -> kenwood amp -> 2 subs(bridged)
head unit -> toggle switch -> amp
Well, I blew the external fuse on the amp as soon as I connected the power cable from the fuse to the amp....so i replaced the fuse and rewired it so the capacitor was taken out of my setup. When i did this my subs started making a fast clicking noise and then my external fuse blew again. So I replaced it and wired it back so the capacitor was in the equation and the clicking stopped but there is no sound or bass coming from my subs. I checked all of my connections and they are all good connections including my ground cable. So i disconnected my subs from my amp and tried it again, and you could still hear the noise coming from my 6x9 speakers which are not hooked up to my amp at all.
Is there any explanation for this or any suggestions on what I could do to fix this?
and also my capacitor is only reading about 10.0, shouldnt it be reading closer to 12 since I have a 12 volt battery?
