Ok so I am wondering the difference between class a/b amps for subs (say a 2 channel, one per coil on one sub) and class D.

And what class and filters my sony amps have.

I have:

sony xm 4045

sony xm 6020

sony xm 4040

I know the 4045 has a low pass and high pass filter, one for each side (2 channels high, 2 channels low)

Are these amps full range/high pass or what?

I just assumed they are all high pass (other than the 4045)

Planning to run 2 tweeters and 4 mids off 2 of them with a xec-700 crossover

All of them are class A/B and are full range, I can't recall if any of those models have built in crossovers. If you want to identify the crossovers just look for LP (low pass) or HP (high pass), probably fixed at 80hz on those models if any exist. You can just leave them on full range and use a head unit that has crossovers.

The inside of your 6020 looks like this.
