class a amps are less efficinet, say about 50%, the rest is dissipated as heat, and they take more amperage...but class a is supposed to be the best for sq (just speaker amp, sub amp don't really matter)

Only until this year. XTANT is releasing this spring the 1st full range class D mono block amplifier. NOT a sub amp.......well it could be if you wanted it to be but it can be used as a full range one channel amp as well, as in mids and highs. I hear they are supposed to be 100w X 1 and I'm not sure if thats at 2 or 4 ohms. They are going to be small enough so you can have a bunch of them. Don't know the price either.

You would use 2 of them. Which once you got the gains set correct they would be just like a 2 channel amp. And being class d they will be much more efficient.

just in case you were confused

Class A amplifers: Tube amps (Best for SQ)

Class A/B amplifers: Mosfet Powered amps (best for competitions)

Class D amplifers: Digital amplifiers (best for subs for a daily driver)

Class T amplifers: Digital amplifers (that are better in SQ and more efficent, but Tripath technologies are supposedly bankrupt so Iam not sure what the future of Class T amps are)

Class X amplifers: Digital, but I dont knwo much about them yet due to lack of exposeure to them
