Clarion VRX765VD/iPod problem

Hello everyone. I have a Clarion VRX765VD CD/DVD player that was in my last vehicle, and I just installed it in my current car. It worked perfectly in my last car, but now I'm having some problems with it when trying to play my iPod on it. For some reason it's not recognizing my iPod at all sometimes, and sometimes it will work long enough to get one song going and then it goes haywire. The times it does work, once I start a song the touchscreen buttons for "Artist", "Playlists", etc. won't work until I unhook the iPod and then re-connect it. Also, the place where it shows the name of the artist and the name of the song that's currently playing (on screen) sometimes shows different things than what is actually playing.

The tuner, cd, dvd player all work perfectly fine.

My question is does this sound like a problem with my head unit, or the cable that my iPod connects to? I was thinking about ordering a new cable for it, but I didn't want to waste money on it if that wasn't the problem.

try the cable first.

find a local shop that has one and also has a money back return policy in case it doesnt fix the problem....

...or if it does fix the problem return it and get the cable online for cheaper.
