Clarion CZ505 , subwoofer pre-outs, don't understand

I'm pairing a Clarion CZ505 (http://www.clarion.com/us/en/pdf/CZ505_inst_EN.pdf , http://www.clarion.com/us/en/pdf/CZ505_manual_EN.pdf if you want the full manual) with a Blaupunkt Blue Magic Xlb 300 A

I'm having trouble "hearing" the correct phase for the subwoofer. I plugged the 'Red' RCA into 'Sub out 1' and the 'black' RCA into 'Sub out 2'. However, setting the SW Phase in the clarion settings to 'reverse' seems to sound better, but it's really hard to tell. especially 'reverse' doesnt seem correct since it appears i've hooked it up correctly

A subwoofer phase reversal option is all about picking that if it sounds better up front. Wire the sub in the correct polarity.
