Chronic Alpine illness...?

I've got last years 9811 and it seems to be kicking the bucket. The rotary knob is the biggest thing. I'll turn it and nothing will register, I push it in, and nothing will register. Sometimes the buttons below the knob (bass, X-over, and MX) don't even work. The guy at Sound Advice said that the Roatary Knob Prob was a common problem among my series. Any ya'll have that prob? Did ya'll just sell it instead of repairing it?

Sounds like a problem with the faceplate connecting to the bus on the deck.

X2 ^. Ive never had that problem with my deck. My friend has the 9815 and his works perfectly too. Maybe just a defective unit. Is it refurbished? Or why do u say you have last years model?

It was bought brand new but I say last year as in 2003 model year (I think)...its 15months old as of now.

should be warranty then. Unless you only got 1 year I suppose. I always get the extended on stuff like that.

I bought a used alpine deck and never had any problem like that before...works as if it was new.

Have you taken the faceplate off, then put it back on again? I think its just a bad connection between the brain and the face.
