That's the plan, just not sure how to go about doing this.i would test the amperage of the alt before installation.

It was kind of both... when I had the new head unit in we didn't set the gains properly... and when we replaced the alternator we set the gains.you noticed a big difference going to a new head unit or going with the new alt?
get that **** replaced man dont let settle for a messed up alt. I knew something like this would happen with that fucking guy. 1% defects my ass. I would of sent it back as soon as I seen the bent pulley man. He might say you messed up the bearings nowAnyone?
He doesn't seem to want to start problems... it's such a ****ing pain to mess with my alternator though. I want to bring it to an alternator shop and have them bench it, but I cannot find a single place that can tell me if it's putting out near 200 amps. Also, I don't have a belt tensioner, so the belt might not be on to the recommended tightness.Hi Kenny,I glad to hear you got the alternator installed. If it was damaged during shipment, You should have let me know - I could have filed a claim throgh Fed Ex and they would have taken care of it. "Funky bearings" is not a phrase you will hear from a good mechanic. The alternator is 100% NEW and has the best bearings available, it is not bad bearings. It is probably a stator insulator that is protruding out some, They will wear down with a little time. They sometimes will rub the rotor as the stator windings are so much larger. Do you get higher voltage when you slightly rev the engine ? You might be able to idle the car up just a little to compensate, The voltage regulator is built into the computer on your car. If you idle the vehicle up just a little, it will allow it to read a higher voltage. Let me know if I can help. Thank you,
Nate
