whichever origin upsets my parents, is where christmas came from. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gifThat's not actually the origin of the holiday we know as Christmas. Given it's name, it's pretty clear that Christmas is a holiday that's based on Christian mythology and that came much later in human history than the Brumilia and Saturnalia celebrations.
Basically, those and the Christian "Christ's Mass" are based upon the winter solstice and humans have known about and celebrated that time of year for millennia. I would argue, since before recorded history, given some of the cave drawings that have been found across the world.
All the ancient pagan religions have been sun worship. The true Christian church (the church that Jesus established according to the accounts of his life) has little resemblance to modern "Christianity" which is largely just pagan sun worship based loosely around the New Testament. Catholicism IMO being about the worst offender in just putting a new paint job on the mystery religion of Babylon.Basically, those and the Christian "Christ's Mass" are based upon the winter solstice and humans have known about and celebrated that time of year for millennia. No, not all of them and not only sun worship. There are about 10,000 gods on record ranging from monotheistic deities to groups of gods charged with the sun, the rain, the moon, fertility, et al... all within one religion or another. All the ancient pagan religions have been sun worship. Catholic church is basically just the Roman Empire V2. The Pope is Caesar, the cardinals the praetorian guard. The holidays coincide around their pagan sun worship days, and the pantheon became the "saints".
Mankind hates to think that this(here and now)might be all there is.No, not all of them and not only sun worship. But in the end, all deities and the cults that grow from their invention are merely constructs of the human unconscious and the fears/bigotries within it. And most importantly, they're an impediment to human progress that needs to become nothing more than an embarrasing part of our deep, dark, sinful past. ;-)
