Choice of

I have been researching some, and would like to see what some other opinions are on a selection of subs. Right now I am leaning toward the 15" SS RL-p in a 2.5ft^3 ported enclosure tuned to around 34hz. It will be fed with over 500w, and I am not concerned with amplifier selection right now because the speakers are more important.

Price is a factor as I have many expensive hobbies/projects so I don't want to put a ton of money into this one, but I am interested in getting bang-for-the-buck. I don't mind spending a little extra if that means a sizable increase in performance. I don't care much at all about fancy looks.

Anyway, I was trying to check on other subs that would compare with the RL-p performance-wise and then narrow it down based on price. From what I have seen, the only subs that really perform on-par or better than the RL-p are priced substantially higher...Brahma, RE XXX, etc. I demand that the sub sound good while producing nice SPL levels, so middle of the road rather than extreme SQ or SPL only. Of course it has to be durable so no models that are known to blow easily. New only, I don't want sloppy seconds. Please give your ideas and suggestions. If the RL-p is your pick, great. If it is not, post up what would be and why. Specify enclosure specs as well. Thanks in advance.

RL-p sounds perfect for you. best bang for your buck imo. i've had great success with mine spl and sq wise.

Thanks, I think it may be but I am just getting familiar with the new equipment out there. I have been out of the car stereo loop for a few years. I used to always have systems but I drifted away from it for a while because I started doing auto-x and the added weight would slow me down. Now that I am done with auto-x I am looking to get a decent system again.
