Choice of Subs for a Ranger

I am trying to find a sub or set of subs that will not take up a lot of room in my cab. I am looking for something that has a lil thump but not ear blistering deep bass. Here are two things i been looking at.

MTX Thunderform amped

Well if your looking for something amped I would check out Bazooka, they have some pretty nice amped tubes. IMO I wouldn't go with the audiobahn tube. Why not check out some shallow subs or something like that, Pioneer, Kole audio, and Power Acoustik all make these and I am sure some other brand does to. I have heard the Power Acoustiks and they sound pretty good imo. What's your spending limit and how much room do you have to work with?

go to a shop. take a listen to a couple things. look in to the Alpine LAT system.

just an extend cab ranger with fold down seats that don't give me a lot to work with. I have a set of jl 12w6v2s, and hifonics 450 mono block thats on in a ported box that to darn big for the cab. i really don't have a limit on the $$$$ i want it to sound good.

Does it have to be amped or do you just rather it?

Someone should be able to build you a custom box for the system you already have...That will fit your ranger...If it is shaped for the truck you should easilly fit those two subs...If you don't want as much bass just have a custom ported box built for a single JL it should out play either of the two choices you listed...

A buddy of mine has a ext. cab ranger and 2 12" rockfords in small sealed boxes they get plenty loud but the sound quality isnt the greatest. He put them in separate boxes so if ever wanted to use his back seats he could easily take them out. If your looking for loud on very little space. Try to find some old kicker solos (the round ones) I still havent heard anything get that loud on 1 cu. ft. sealed. There are probably other subs out there that perform that well in a small space by now but I havent personally heard any.

Yeah i just measured around and i don't have the room to fit them jl's in that cab. i would have better luck with trying to fit 10s in the. what do you guys know about the mtx thunderforms cuz i know the got the box with 2 10's in it.

I heard one once. I didnt like it. It sounded "hallow". Not as deep as i like mine.

what size are your jl's? trust me theyll fit, you can get almost 8 cubes in there, below the window line...im porting 2 15's in mine....

why not try some ss rli's 8'' in there then, I know they are 8's but, don't be fooled by thye size. ))))))))
