I didn't say they were no good, I just said you will get laughed at if you tell the guy with the p/g titanium amps that you bought a us acoustics amp. I'm guessing you guys don't have many friends, in car audio. no offense.

It really doesn't matter what kind of equipment you have.. it's the sound qaulity that matters. Many people are on a budget and want the best sounding system for the money. I would never laugh at somebody because of the equipment they have.. unless it is RF.

I'd say get a used amp if your on a budget. But i think even non working PPI amps are more expensive than us acoustics. Wonder why?

Lumping JL with RF isn't right. JL's building (arguably) the best sub on the market right now, and their amps are among the best too - regardless of cost.

i'm not saying jl and rockford are the same as for quality and such i'm saying they are 2 big name mainstreem companies that everybody things are the best of the best. i know jl makes some good equipment maybe near the top but mostly they are selling you there name. i just checked on a price for a jl 1000/1 amp and it was like $729. there are a lot of amps just as good for a lot cheaper. i would much rather have my pg tantrum than the jl 1000/1. i have no idea why ppi are so expensive. if there are so many ppi amps not working who the hell would want to buy them?

Ok, name a few 1000watt class-d amps with a damping factor >500, That can maintain there rated rms power under any load between 1.5 and 4ohms. ANd if you looked inside a ppi amp, you would see why they are expensive. Is there a way to put pictures on here?

you can post pics by going to manage attachments and upload a pic. ppi amps last i checked are not 1 ohm stable. now you are comparing a 1000watt class d amp to 4 channel 260 watt amp which is 2 totally different amps. us acoustic amp have a thd of .01% and a s/n of 100db's and i know you will say the ppi has 115 s/n but you also pay hundreds of dollars for 15 more db s/n. the us acoustics rms power is at 12.9 volts so they will produce much more than rms power with a decent electrical system. i like ppi amps and i almost bought a pcx 1500 but i bought a pg tantrum for less money which puts out over 400 more rms watts.

I would look carefully at specs from a company that rates at 12.9 volts. I mean why wouldn't they just say 13.

Why would you take your opti drive over JL 1000/1? Forget about rf. I would take my reference 500 over a jl500/1 because it is class a/b and can push 1 ohm mono loads. .5 ohm stereo. They are not made like that anymore because they get to hot and companies can't offer good warrenties on them.

Why would you take your opti drive over JL 1000/1?

Because it has everything I want and more. More power than I'll ever need, looks smooth, great controls, built like a tank, and engineered and built in America. Plus, not everyone and their dog has one.

any old 35XX Alpine are great underrated amps...

my 3527S (its a 4/3/2 channel amp) ran a pair of Boston Acoustic Pro Series 5.5's and a 10" Orion Cobalt (3 way)

the power is clean, and the amp is 10 years old, and still runs like a champ.

I had the US Acoustic 4085 but got stollen last week. Their really good for it's price. It's a nice decent amp, just dont like the thump sound when i turn it on though. I'm shopping for a new one right now, maybe a PG, PPI, Arc or TRU if i get crazy.

The ppi is not much cheaper than the jl. How many watts can they put out at 4ohms? The jl is 1000 watts@ any load between 1.5-4ohms. So it gives you more options as far are subwoofers go. JL didn't sell out to some co. in japan like Soundstream did. So untill they do, you can be sure that there amps are worth the $ and your not just buying junk that says JL on it. in 1995 soundstream sold out to a japanese co. the new co. continued to use there name while building lower quality amps. And taking power ratings at 12.9volts makes me think think they prolly cut alot of corners makeing there amps. they should give power ratings at 12 volts.
