My knowledge of cheater amps is that they either rate them at a very low voltage (so when they are in your car they get more voltage and increase power), or they only rate them at 4 ohms, but are stable at 1 ohm, also resulted in much more power. I don't know any off the top of my head, but there are a couple floating around here.

Some of the Older Orions and the older PPI ProMos amps were "cheater amps" Look on ebay..

The old school opti 50c. I think it was rated at 25x2 and did 800x1 @ 1/2 ohm bridged, and I'm quite sure you could have fried an egg on it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They can still be found on ebay once in a while. The newest ones would be at LEAST 10 years old.

American Bass is the current cheater of choice.. 10x1 @ 12 volts with 4 ohms.. 1000x1 @14.4 volts with I think 1 ohm load.. It's called the D1000

This amp is WAY underrated, it puts out around 1600 watts rms at 1 ohm mono, not 1200.

Yes, I was about to say the Orion HCCA.. apparently, they can drop to 1/2ohms...awesome... the 275, I don't think they make it anymore, but I've seen soem be4 in real life... big slab of an amp... back then, i didn't understand all this ohm thing and how come the power output differentiates so much... it's got a center fan, isntead of the usual Orion logo... I'd still choose this amp over a lot of other stuff...even zapco stuff...

Holy Shit guys are you all too young to remember the The infamous MTX Terminator 50 X2@4 ohms? When in fact it pushes an astonishing 900 to 1100 @ 1/2 ohm. You can even take it down to 1/4 ohm, but you will be replacing the diodes very soon if you do. Also, the Big Orion Red is a great cheater amp.
