Well yesterday I went to the hardware store and picked up some closed cell weather stripping to dead the rattle on my trunklid by going around the perimater of the trunk lid with it.
After I got done i turned the radio up and it was a lil better, not near as much flex but still the annoying *** annnnn annnn so I open the trunk lid and leave the radio up fairly loud and it sounds like its those metal channels in the lid vibratin so I pull/ push on them and it does nothing.
Turns out it was the wire looming for the trunk latch and the 3rd brake light INSIDE 2 of the channels vibrating so I stuffed the stripping between where I could reach and it drasticly reduced the annnnnnnnnnnnnn noise.
Ive heard of people using expanding foam but would that cause a potential fire hazard over the wires like that, I didnt know so wasnt about to attempt it but if you can reach enough spots the stripping works fine.
I might drill some holes in the middle of the channels to keep put more in so the looms dont touch the metal at all, between that and the stripping all the way around the lid that should reduce almost all of my rattle coming from that area for about 9 bucks total with no dynamat on the trunk lid:greedy:
Definitly worth taking a look at if you havnt already dynamated over the holes and your car uses wire looms, I dont know if it would matter as much if it was 1 or 2 small soft wires compared to that larger hard plastic tube
