It is rather shallow, and up til recently it was tuned quite low with an awkward "shelf" in the back. Really I could angle the back wall, but it would eat a good bit into volume that I'd rather not spare. May be something to consider if there seems to be a problem. When you figure the 10" motor though I doubt much wave will actually hit the cone.Cool build. Serious question. How much of an issue is reflection off the back wall coming back through the cone? All of that wall thickness is great for rigidity. But cones have little to no transmission loss. I expect that you'd see cancellation for frequencies who's 1/4 wavelength is the distance from cone to rear wall. Do you observe this?
Got the baffle glued and screwed up today. Seems quite solid. My friend is coming down with the amps and subs tomorrow and we will be mounting and wiring everything and possibly be doing some testingAny updates???
It's been a pain in the arse really. There's a lot of cosmetic stuff yet to do, plus some testing and perhaps playing with tuning (port length). Otherwise, just mounting all the gear is about all we're going to do this year. Weather is getting cold and I'm ready to head to Florida, and my friend is about tapped on funds with some repairs on his other cars all happening at once. Now this seems like a fun project,
I'm looking forward to move of this Exploder.
I wonder... If I will ever get that far into audio..It's been a pain in the arse really. There's a lot of cosmetic stuff yet to do, plus some testing and perhaps playing with tuning (port length). After we finish the box and tuning we'll pull an impedance sweep and consider different wiring options or possibly different amp options depending on where we can get impedance to sit at peak.
Lol I was just thinking the same think makes me wanna look for a dirt cheap suv or van and start ripping **** upI wonder... If I will ever get that far into audio..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Right now, I have my SA-12s as any rookie would, don't know my peak, don't know what's ideal to tune at. No TL, no gear, nobody local to show me anything.
All I have is the mighty hispls to teach me.
Smells like... electrical fires and blown woofers.Lol I was just thinking the same think makes me wanna look for a dirt cheap suv or van and start ripping **** up
Lol I gotta learn some how.... Shittt if it takes a couple sets to get on that level I'm downSmells like... electrical fires and blown woofers.
