Charging Optima Yellowtops

Hey guys

I was wondering, what setting do you recommend setting the battery charger to in order to top up a Yellowtop ?

I bought a new yellowtop 8 months ago and it has been and will continue to sit in my closet for another 6 coz Im out of the country. Currently, it sits at 12.02 Volts. I guess I shouldnt have purchased it so early, but anyway.

Should you trcikle charge them, or just install it and let the car charge it up since it sits at 12.02 ??

If you are going to put it in the charger make sure you just trickle charge the battery. If you charge it too quickly you can actually ruin gel cells.

I charged my yellowtop, but then after a day the voltage drops, and continues to drop over time. Overall is my battery just bad now?

when you store a battery it would be a good idea to try and keep it at least 70% charged generally 12.5v and above. you can get little maintaining chargers for 20 -30 bucks that will keep them where they need to be.

Get a battery tender. They work awesome.
