Changing out the MTX 8500 for....

Right now I am really low on cash, but I want another 12. I cant seem to find any MTX Thunder 8500's that are the normal 4 ohm version. They are all the Dual 4 ohm version. Currently I am running one single 4 ohm version. I have seen on ebay the new Alpine Type R's and they are rather cheap. Check out my signature for my amp and what not. I am basically thinking about dumping the MTX Thunder because I want two 12's, because just one isnt loud enough for me. Any thoughts?

Well I am not sure on how much I want to spend. If I had to spend more than what I planned then I would save up. I dont know if one 12 is enough for me. I heard a system the other day with one 12" Audiobahn sub in a decently sized ported box in his truck facing his window with only 400 watts goin to it. I felt the bass in my head. With my system I can only feel it in my stomach. I want the head ringing loudness.

I dont have enough trunk space for 2 9500's. Im sure going from an 8500 to a 9500 wont do that much of a difference. Sure it will double the wattage, but I want more of an increase in sound. I am going for a dual subwoofer setup. I can get two of the new Alpine Type R's for a little over $200

Bump. Anyone recommend anything other than the Type R's? Looking to run a 2 ohm final load on my amp. If there are a pair of subs out there than can take 600 rms x2 let mek now too.

I was thinking about getting two RE SE 12's but they only come in Dual 4 ohm version. I need to run a final load of 2 ohms. I believe my JBL 1200.1 is 1 ohm stable, but I dont want to run it down that far.

your 1200.1 is stable at 1 ohm i ran mine like that for about 6 or 7 months with no prob. Oh yeha and u will get a big difference jumping from 8500 to 9500.

Which would be a bigger difference though?

(2) 2005 model Alpine Type R's recieving 500 x 2 = 1000 watts

(1) MTX 12" 9500 recieving 1000 watts = 1000 watts

(4) 2005 model Alpine Type S's recieving 300 x 4 = 1200 watts
