If you have them at a lower bitrate, there's no way to encode them at a higher one unless you re-rip from the original material. If you have them at a higher bitrate, why sacrifice SQ?

To save space on MP3 cd.s over 192kpbs is hared to distinguish in a car for most people.

If the material you're wanting to convert is lower than 192 kb/s already then converting them to 192 will only take up more space on a disc than they would now without the advantage of sounding better. EDIT: Guess I'm too slow of a typer! Already taken care of....

One more thing to add: I rip all of my .mp3 files from CD @ 320 kb/s. It only lets me put 5 albums worth of music on a normal 700mb blank (as opposed to 10 or 12 albums @ 128 kb/s) but they do sound heaps better! It is true that bitrates above 192 kb/s are generally indistinguishable one to the next in-car?

192k is about the minimum I'd listen to for any length of time...it's noticeable in the vehicle, very noticeable at home.

mp-3's **** compared to audio cd's and I love my ipod, but the sq isn't the same. All my stuff is 192
