Changed setup and not as loud?

I went from a 15" punch hx2 in a box 29x15x15 with 2 4" round pvc ports about 12" long to a Kicker 15 L7 in a 3.75 slot vented box tuned to 38 hz. The rockford slammed much harder than the kicker. I know the kicker subwoofer is only 2 days old but my first impressions are wondering where all the spl is? I have 1100 watts rms going to it. I did call kicker and he advised me to put 3.5 lbs of sheeted poly fill in it. I guess I was expecting a subwoofer that would shatter glass and sound very sloppy but honestly it sounds MUCH better then the rockford did. There is no port noise. Any suggests on getting it louder? The port in it is on the front and its 3" wide 12" long and bends 90* and then its 3 more inches. Isn't 1100 watts enought power?

Well my two 12's were extremely loud out of the box, and insanely loud!!! So I don't know...but sometimes subs takea while to break in. Give it sometime and it should get there. But my l7's did get a lot louder over time!

it will get better.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
polecat, I up'd the gain on my amp to probably half. Is that safe? It sounds fine. And somewhat louder. The tech guy at kicker advised me to put 3.5 lbs of sheeted polyfill in the box. Is it worth the cost and time? I had tought about inverting it but it would only gain me .16 cu ft. Thanks

Just to make sure I have it wired correctly. I have coil one positive and negative going to coil 2 positive and negative. Then I have the positive on the coil 1 going to the terminal on the box and into the amp for a 1 ohm load.

yes, polyfill will smoothen it out, I thinbk you'll like it....

The polyfill should help it sound smoother but you will probably lose a little SPL in the process. The polyfill can absorb and slow down the rear wave that is trying to get out the port which can improve SQ but most likely hurt spl a bit. I would take out the polyfill and just give the sub some time, also it is a rather small box for a ported 15L7.If you really want it louder I would build a slot ported box around 5 cubes tuned to taste.

the box is tuned too high, and too small.
