Change of mind? Best SQ Sub?

I was in the market for a really nice loud deep sub. I was going to get either a 12 or 15 fully loaded fi btl. I now realize i really want it to be really really good sq and not just super powerful. I know fi subs are really good but i just want to see what people say for SQ subs.

Thanks

now, with the sq subs, do they still hit really hard? i do want that insane rattle, but i dont want it so bad that it hurts and my windows are going to explode. and i do plan on spending a pretty penny on it, so no cheapies.

well. Im feeding my se 12 about 500 rms (just got one because i took my 2 12" ported box out to carpet it... but i like the sealed so much its been like this for a week lol)

and yes, it hits very hard. drum hits sound great, gets real low and sounds so ****ing good doing it.

Realm Audio 12"

They're the best SQ sub I've ever owned, but not many people know about them which is why you don't hear anything good about them. I would put them up against a W6 or a Mag, but with less power needed to power them.

well what about the fi btl? its about 2000 watts rms or whatever and i was going o get a nice matching amp to it. compared to that do you still think i should go with a different sub?

i was just thinking that i could just have different settings on my h.u. so that if i want to turn the bass down just change the eq a bit and if i feel like showing off then i can just turn it up.

the thing is i listen to a lot of metal/rock along with rap so those double bass hits sometimes get distorted with too much bass.

I dont know, i really liked the fi btl option and i need some really good persuasion to get my mind off of that one, but if its a good choice then ill be more than happy to stick with it.

You're asking about SQ but then talking about a BTL, which are two COMPLETELY different things. That's like asking for a performance car and then talking about a Freightliner.

First, what is your previous/current experience with "loud" systems that you've owned? Secondly, what systems have you liked the sound of? Third, what kind of room and power do you have available?

To some people, a BTL might sound "good" to them, but to others it's incredibly far from an SQ sub.

Something you might want to think about if you can be OK with sub-150 dB systems (which is almost EVERY daily driven system) is multiple subwoofers. Getting in the mid 140's with 3-4 sealed 12's, 2 15's, etc, isn't that hard to do. But if you want a single driver to get to the high 140's or higher, count on throwing SQ out the window. It might still be OK on kick drums, but that's about it.
