Does anyone know of a good dash mount center cahnnel speaker? I have seen the pioneer on ebay, I can not find the older alpin dash mount type anymore, I know Crystal has a dash mount type. I will be running of my H701 center output.

Output from the itty bitty Alpine is worthless. To really do it right, you should try to use the same mid/tweet you have in the doors. You want it to sound as similar to those as possible for two reasons.

1. When playing music (not true surround material), you don't need it sticking out like a sore thumb and creating a distinct individual sound in the center, and at the same time dividing the two door speakers, which singles them out as well. The idea is to have one harmonic sound that doesn't seem to come directly from any of the specific speaker locations.

2. When playing material in 5.1, you need it to blend smoothly. For example, if you are watching a scene where the action moves from left to right across the screen, you don't want the sound of the action to change when it comes from the center speaker. It should transition smoothly and virtually seemlessly across your front stage.

depending on how large your air conditioning vents are you can recess a 3 1/2 inch speaker into the tubes behind the venting directors. this takes work but ive seen it done well to leave a clean install with 5.1

You're in luck, an Alpine center channel and an Alpine amp combo went up on eBay earlier today-

Buy It Now price: US $110.00

(And no, its not mine, nor do I have anything to do with the seller!)

Are you actually wanting to do 5.1? It is only good for movies and there are very few music cd's recorded in 5.1 and I'm sure the ones that are, you wouldn't want to listen to.
Concert DVDs are the shiznit.

LOL how many of the bass heads do you think will be listening to concerd dvd's? I pretty much listen to every type of music myself. I absolutely love acoustic cd's and well....pretty much any cd that is well recorded. The Eagles Greatest Hits is up at the top //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif That reminds me....I gotta order some cd's from audionutz..

The Eagles Farewell DVD (Gold cover, double disk, filmed in Melbourne) is my absolute favorite. Hotel California starts out with a trumpet (I think it's a trumpet, lol) solo that sounds amazing in my truck.

Anyone with video in their ride should look into concert DVDs, imo. There are plenty of hip hop titles (for the bass heads) out there, and even some CDs that have a couple of videos on the flip side.
