Center Channel Amplifier

Center Channel Speaker(s)

This is my first post, and the first time doing a system of any kind.

This is for a 01 suburban.

The main amp is 4 channel MB Quart. Driving Q components in the front and coaxial’s in the real. I re-wired and re-harnessed the GM amplifier\ filter unit as a bypass for the MB Quart amplifier for a sort of plug and play hookup. Replace the rear sub with a Memphis and MB Quarts 3.5 for rear tweets on the factory amp. Works well no problems, nice clean sound with full amplifier power form the MB Quart Amp. Sub \ Tweet power from the factory amp.

Now I need a center channel.

I would like to get some input on this. I want to set up some center channel speaker(s) to my Panasonic Head Unit CQ-VD6505U. There is a single mono out of the head unit for this. I don’t like what I seen on the net so far for center channels Clarion, Kenwood, etc.. amps with speakers.

This is what I was thinking of doing the center

I can’t find room for a single speaker location in the truck for a front stage, but two small speakers would work fine.

Two 2.5 or 2 inch speakers. AVI MDM 50’s Midrange ( I would have to make a cross over and add a tweeter) or JBL GTO 220’s if I can find either of them. Both will be placed on the left and right side of the dash or in the pillar columns facing the windshield.

These would be wired in series or parallel depending on the amplifier’s power. I do have an older mobile Authority 201ZXI 2 channel that is new . This amp will put out 30W per channel at 4 ohms and 60 watts at 2 ohms peak this amp will only do 2 channel stereo at 2 ohms, probably 4 ohms at mono like most others.

I was wondering could I use only the left or right channel of this amp for mono? Meaning just use only one channel for the mono and wire the speakers in series or parallel and leave the other channel unconnected. I cannot bridge the amp either.

Any of the 4 ohms speaker would leave me 15W per channel wired in a series. I’m not sure if that would be enough power for a center channel ? would it.

Maybe a different type of Amplifier?

Thoughts?
