What part of GA, I live in east AL on the GA border and Verizon has great service even in rural areas followed by sprint which isn't horrible but has some dead areas and AT&T I wouldn't bother with they are spotty at best.

I've got Verizon and no other provider has as good of service around here. It's also the only service that has coverage at our land in Iowa

Yeah, I remember it used to be. Was also good in Wisconsin, iirc. Are they even still around? I don't see them advertised in Illinois

Its best to go with basic pay as you go phones...I use the prepaid kind for 3 months at a time then smash it with a hammer and get a new one...That way you remain a ghost ...completely untraceable ...by the time they are getting close they reach dead ends....always swap phone services as well never use the same provider twice in a row...stay away from the internet phones and data plans it can be traced ...go with your basic flip phone about $10 plus your 3 month prepaid so another $25 or less depending on carrier...
