Hey everyone,
When I got my 98 Jeep Cherokee it came with a Sony cdx5000x CD player, and since then only three (out of four) speakers work. Recently I decided to open up the front door panels to inspect the speakers, since the left side one worked only when the door was open. I figured there was a loose or faulty wire, but to my surprise everything was fine, and it was the same way on the right side (the never working speaker). To rule out the actual speakers being broken, I swapped them with the rear speakers and true enough they worked fine. Thus, my logic tells me it has to be the wiring OR the head unit.
Now, upon inspection the wiring seems professional and they used a wiring harness kit. With the head unit on, I handled the wiring to check for faulty wires with no luck at all. I am at a loss here, the speakers work, the wiring from the speakers to the head unit seems fine. Could it be the head unit itself that is having trouble with ONLY the front speakers?
I'm not crazy about the idea of taking it to an audio shop for something like this, since it could cost more than it's worth.
Any ideas?
Thank you for the input guys!
