is the HD series THAT much better? $140 better??

they'll be pushed by a PG xenon 200.2, so the HD's will obviously be better with that amp, but i can always turn the gain down...what do you think?

i was pretty set on the HD's but if the only difference is the mids, and its not worth the extra 140 bucks..well

but then again, i dont even know what "good" is, so thats why i'm asking you all. heh

I have heard both. The Ef;s get loud and stay pretty clean, same goes with the HD's. I chose the HD's based on my install. They sound great, but IMO the build quality isnt as good as I had hoped. I am not 1-1.5 years into owning them, and each mid has been sent off for warranty once. The driverside needs to be sent off again, but I cant cause the spider is ripped. First two times was due to the tinsel leads were too long and crossed, this could have ruined my amp, luckly it didnt.

Just a heads up. Now, the tweets are awsome IMO, the x-overs (satnet 560) are great too. I dont use them now though.

For the price I'd keep looking.

so no for the EF's for $190? they've got the same tweets and xover as the HDs
Its up to you. Just to let you know, another friend of mine had to send his EFs off too. It isnt line specific. What is your budget and vehicle? Maybe I can help you find something in your price range.

under 300 bucks. the HDs would have been 30 bucks over my 'budget'.

theyre going in a 2002 ***** am ws6.

i want clear, precise speakers and quality ofcourse. i dont wanna be taking the da*mn things out after theyre installed the first time around.

also need something that could handle pretty close to 200wrms...thats not a must, ofcourse..but if i have a capable amp, why not use it

I told you what happened to mine. The tinsel leads were too long and touched. Caused them to break. Sent them back to CDT and got a replacement in a week or so. Not to big of a deal other then I had to take them out, put the new one in, and be without a speaker for a week.

ahh, i see. i'm pretty ignorant when it comes to car audio any more, its like a whole different language //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i wish someone would make the decision for me lol. i hate choices like this. theres just too many options, and i always want to do it right the first time

i just cant justify buying a used set for more than i could get the EF's for new, since i was thinking of them anyway
i had the ef's before i had the hd's and they are so much better. midbass is insane and mine weren't in the recommended alignment(pods as u saw). handle more power and get so much louder with it. but it's cool, no ill feelings. you'll be happy with either.
