CDT designs and builds its drivers and crossovers to the very highest of standards. Years of experience and design flexibility yield higher quality and better performance. Quite simply, we produce "audiophile" sound, smoother response, wider dynamic range, and better imaging and sound staging. Our incredible midbass and midrange drivers are flat to 6 kHz! That's 6 octaves response! This puts much less stress on the tweeter, providing better power handling and much better sound. Our special "Contoured Dispersion" radiation pattern in the critical midrange frequencies delivers rock solid imaging and front staging, with virtually no side biasing. These carbon treated cones are smooth and natural sounding thanks to an ideal combination of stiffness and damping. The compound curvature shape prevents cone flex and break-up. This provides clean midbass, even at higher levels. The critical midrange frequencies are clear and precise with no distortion from "ringing." The mids use a real butyl rubber surround, not merely a mixed butyl compound.
The silk soft dome tweeters use an incredibly powerful neodymium magnet and ferro fluid cooling for high power handling. The treble these tweeters provide is wonderfully smooth and distortion free with excellent off-axis response and virtually no dynamic compression.
The 4 piece "phase perfect" 60 dB. crossovers use military grade connectors for long life and perfect transfer of the electrical signal. These connectors can handle 600 volts and 30 amps! All crossover parts are low loss Mylar caps, iron core inductors and use large signal land paths. Summary: The soundstage this complete system produces is amazing! Its beautifully defined left to right and front to back and has the feeling of emanating from free space rather than "typical car stereo locations." The stage is deep, wide and stable, like you've never heard before. Last but not least, the super steep 60 dB. roll off will provide extended tweeter life and higher power handling because of dramatically reduced low frequency demands on the tweeter itself. These are great speakers! CDT Audio is a highly acclaimed though little knwon company. Though they have an excellent product, they have purposely kept their company small. I opened the box to check the speakers but never installed them because I can't fit them comfortably in my car. They will definately make their new owner happy.
