Cd7100 vs Deh-80prs

I believe the 80PRS has more bands for tuning. I thought my CD7000 compared to my 9887 had a much more transparent sound to it. The 9887 seemed to make things more warm sounding.
Did you have a personal preference between the 9887 and the 7000? I think the 7200mkii is an extremely warm deck...almost reminds me of listening to my vinyl at home sometimes.

I have had my 9887 for a much longer time that I had my CD7000. I prefer the 9887 iPod controls over the CD7000. As far as sound I want everything as flat and discolored as possible coming from the HU. Even coming off more warm, although it may be a pleasant sound, its still a form of distortion.

Not my first trip into sq. First active wise but, I know plenty about how to set it up. I like to spend more on a deck it is the brain of the system. High preouts benefit on old school amps because they almost always have higher gain settings than new amps.
Well if you're hardcore about it, I'd say step up in cost and get Eclipse's Sound Monitor series. Those will be SQ monsters. That or a McIntosh. Ebay's got a few rolling around for what I think is fair pricing.

I think the deciding factor should come down to what you intend to play on it. CDs? Get Eclipse. iDevices? Get Pioneer. No sense in spending more for features you won't get any benefit out of.
