what are some programs that will allow me to rip at a bit rate higher (higher being 320+...) than 192Kbps which is the highest WMP will go on ripping, thx.

Yes. 320kbps. I've never seen higher than that. I'm sure Jmac posted something a while back that would be very relavent to this.

why are you wanting to rip at a higher bit rate than 192? The standard that most ripping crews go by is VBR. Which in turn rips the cds for the exact bitrate in which they are recorded so it would be true cd quality.

Agreed. I always rip my CD's at VBR (Variable Bit Rate), or 320 if it's a really good CD that I play over and over a gazillion times, but it wouldn't matter anyhow. VBR is the way to go because it saves time and disk space.

Another advantange of VBR was also stated above as it saves disk space. It converts the WAV files to mp3's but when its converting it is following the vbr of the disk so each song is ripped the exact way as it is recorded onto the original cd.

Im wondering the same thing .... i have nero but how can i get my songs cd quality...... i read that other thread jmac posted and im even more confused on how to do it..........

not true CD quality, but pretty darn good.
