CD player wiggin out...

Girlfriend just got me a kenwood mpv-6022 cd/mp3 player for my car. Only problem is that half the time it wont play my cd's. The cd's are hardly scratched and my piece of crap old cd player had no problem playing all my cd's. Today i burned an mp3 format cd and when i would go to a song it would just sit there saying "reading..." and never play anything. absolutely no scratches on it. wondering if the HU could be defective or if kenwood just really blows ***. Kinda getting tired of driving down the road listening to myself cuss at the cd player because it wont obey.

Need some suggestions on what i should do.
