I am not a fan of buying a dog, more than likely I will get it from the pound.

Well we are about getting a full blood pup. So that is why we do that.

By all means, get yourself a dog from the pound. Not something I would do, but I admire that.

I don't want a huge dog...the beagle seems to meet my needs. I don't high pitched yippie dogs. I like Jack Russel Terriers but the internetz says they need too much attention.
I think we are going to bring the puppy to her place from time to time. I won't be getting it until a couple weeks.

How big do they get? I need something that is okay by itself for during the day...and doesn't get too big and likes to wrestle around and going for a walk.

I have a full size lab thats about 125lbs our neighbors have a mini though and I would have to say its maybe 30-35lbs. It looks like mine did when he was about 5 or 6 months old.

Your dog sucks.
Most Beagles don't like cats and will chase them.

I beg to differ, he is a great dog, just trained well. He won't run anything besides a rabbit. When he was younger he had a bad habit of running deer, but he got broke of that rather quick.

The cat is not declawed, but will be when it comes to my house. The cat has a tendancy to tear up shit.

How old is the cat? This is a very bad idea if the cat is older than a year. Some say a year and a half but that may be pushing it. Unless you look into laser claw removal, which has had better results with older cats.

Also, beagles are of pretty mild temperament. Depending on the cat they should be able to co-exist with only minor problems.

Get a minature black lab.
