Carpet in the trunk, or none?

I've covered my trunk interior with liquid sound deadener, and am ready to replace the carpet. Would I get better SQ and loudness results if I just left the carpet out? I'm putting a box with two twelves in the trunk, and don't really care about cosmetics back there. Thanks in advance.

Not with carpet...

Having thick foam can reduce standing waves with midbass frequencies and higher, but carpet wouldn't do anything for subbass.

Well, in that case...Still go with carpet. I don't see how it could hurt.
