Certainly being checked out at the hospital(although I would strongly recommend seeing a chiropractor....you two could have had your backs/necks jarred pretty good) is just being practical. It has NOTHING to do with trying to get something that you don't have coming to you, but IF you have injuries, you may be compensated for pain and suffering.
