Car stereo won't turn on

Planning on upgrading my whole car, bit by bit, so I started with buying a Sony CDX-GT560, though even after connecting it up it won't power on.

However, my previous installment, a Goodman car stereo, when connected works fine. Any ideas as to what it could be?

did you have the antenna plugged in to the head unit when you tried to turn it on? i know pioneers are picky with that because they used the antenna as a ground too
