I could tell from your first couple of posts you had shorted + to -. Trying to jump it was the dumbest thing you could do. Put your dmm on the resistance setting and make sure you don't still have a short.
It really concerns me that with a problem this obvious we only have one single reply stating it. I really think the intelligence level on this site is dropping.
OP, please, for the love of god, DO NOT connect another battery until your SURE the short is corrected. Like eCrack said, take your DMM, set it check resistance (this is the setting with the OHM on it, if you touch the DMM leads together on this setting it should read 0), then put one lead on each of your battery terminals. Right now it's probably going to read 0, this is very bad. That means there is a direct short from positive to ground. You need to check over every inch of your big 3 wiring, starting with where you said the alternator wire was touching the chassis. Check everything and do not apply power until your DMM stops reading 0 ohms between the terminals.
