Capacitors

when i just play the radio it does go down but when i when to leave i seen it was 18.9 and i dont know if its working right are they all supposed to be 12 volts or do some hold more

ok so what i got out of that is that my size is really small sense my volts is so high?
no....either something is very wrong or the have these things rigged to make you think they are producing more power but they dont they just store it from the strongest part of your electrical. on stock electrical it should read 14.4 or there about. you arent getting 18 volts unless you just got struck by lightning. my advice....take the cap, unhook it, get some needlenoses a flathead screwdriver and an all andset them down...then throw the cap out and cut your losses.

when i first hooked it up it was at 12 volts but its sat in the car for a couple of hours when i went out it was 18 volts i just got it today i would hate to just throw it away its hooked up correctly from the diagrams i've looked at but.

In all honesty, a second battery(even a smaller one) would be a better choice and will

give you better results.

Also, with that, do the big 3 upgrade. This alone will make a big difference.

Let me ask, what amps/gear are you running??

Something smells funny.

The voltage just wont go up on its own, specially if the car is off. Even with the car running, you should not see

voltages higher than 14.8-15ish.

If you have a dmm, test the cap and battery with that and see what you have.

That cap is lying to you. If you added a cap because your lights were dimming, go ahead and do the big 3. However, you should remove it either way. It may seem like it's helping your system but it's really just killing it.

is there any way to do it without the dmm?
