Capable 6"x9" speakers?

im not sure if you are just looking for rear sound or some sound quality, but many people here would agree that putting 6.5" speakers back there will sound better. a good pair of 6.5 will be easier to find than a good sounding set of 6x9's

i beg to differ, i have the pioneer 420W 4-way 6x9's and they sound great, but i wil agree on going with 6.5 components to a degree. but if oyu have the opening, do 6x9's

have you tried them in comparison with 6.5"s?

My last car had brand new 6.5's in the back...Now I have the same brand 6x9's in the back and the increase in bass they are capable of is pretty spectacular. I do not have an amp though, maybe 6.5's can do a lot more than I think? 6.5's just seem kinda "weak" compared to a big heavy 6x9. I have Pioneer 3-ways in the rear, and they are impressive. They were $75.

the new zapco iforce 6.5"s are really smooth sounding. they have tons of midbass. the pioneer rev's (yellow cones) are a good speaker too. they are a little sharper and a little more harsh than the zapcos. either way, they are about the same price.

i never said components. anything more than a good coaxil would be considered overkill for rear stage in my opinion. i dont even run rear speakers in my truck, but that is besides the point.

I am, myself, a fan of 6"x9" coaxials - my current install is the first one in several years that I haven't used some.

My last set was a set of Premiers....model TS-E6990

On 70w/apiece they wanged pretty good running full-range and on a HP crossover at 85Hz the farther you twisted the volume the louder they got and never distorted.

These are Premier's top-end bynine currently. Haven't heard them personally but they look pretty sweet on paper!
