Cant handle daily/weekly stress... :(

I have recently stopped my nicotine intake from 2 a day which is about a can a week which in turn is about $2 a week down to 0. I have only been "sober" for a week and i dont think i can cope with the stress of everyday normal activities... This thread is not to make anyone "feel bad for me" or anything like that. I just think its weird how things such as nicotine, beer, and mary-jane can remove stress. I have a hard time remembering a time where if i were feeling bad, a nice beer +bowl+ dip=/=complete happiness.

Now, without those substances, in a time of need, what is something to do to stay mentally sane? I have heard hobbies will do that, or at least help, and i do enjoy playing guitar and drums, car audio, playing soccer, and playing basketball, but those things cannot happen at any time of day.

I am not really the most depressive person. Most people that know me would say i am chill, and happy for the majority. I am very non-violent, like to thing logically, and keep things very neat and organized. Downside is i have a very addictive personality. I am proud to say that i do not used any other substances other than nicotine alcohol and THC in the past ~2years.

What does a non-addict do to keep sane?

find something that makes you happy and limit the stressors.
I know that I can come home at the end of the day and be with my ladyfriend. home is very relaxing.
Yeah, maybe when i get out of this house this summer it will be a little easier for me.

 
lift? pray? I go to deserted places and maybe go on a quick hike on weekends and just relax and try to find inner peace. exp during football.

 
Well I used to smoke pot Daily (~3 years clean), and I know what you mean. Now at the time and currently Im not the most stressed person but I know the feeling. I find doing something you like helps alot. Maybe you cant work on CA all the time but I find If I start building mental stereo's in my head it calms me down. Try doing that. **** i dont know any different .. never smoked a cig or pot and never dipped and i deal with day to day crap just fine
i envy that!!

I know WHY i crave these things and come to them.... because they are habits and something my brain officially associates with "comfort and happiness." When someone never experiences those feelings then their brain cannot associate with those feelings, you probably associate dip with gross spit and ciggs with awful smell..I on the other hand think of dip as a comfortable necessity after a meal and a cigarette is alright after smoking a little MJ.

I am just looking for some substitute stress relievers i guess?? I find myself a lot more hostile at home and with my girlfriend sometimes now that i have stopped nicotine.

I work 65-70 hours a week on top of going to the gym and studying. However, my sanity level was breached several months ago.

I dip...good for you for quitting. What kind did you dip?

If not for beer and nicotine, I don't know what I'd do. People who go at life without some sort of an unhealthy addiction are better people than I.
