Can't Go Active with an Alpine 7998

Thought about ditching the rears, and going Active on the fronts but the 7998 only provides up to a 200Hz crossover point which is not high enough for the tweeters. Did they make an outboard unit that would give it that capability like the PRA-H400?

Anyone running a 7998 active?

how you like thopse a/d/s comps... my buddy just got a set of 3 ways..

Alpine's tech support has gone to sh!t.

I tried looking at the manual for your HU (which isnt that old) and they dont have it.

Love my a/d/s's they are the pre-DEI versions.

So the switch will allow for higher crossover points, I have the user manual at home a read a little but it did not indicate any crossover points higher than 200Hz though.

I know it will go active but with I don't know of a tweeter on the planet that can be crossed as low as 200Hz without dying instantly

Planning on running the Ulysses 25W + 25W on the a/d/s 336PX's and the Isis 50W + 50W on the midbasses

Then I am going to use an Audio Control Model 11 to run the center channel with it's built in ESP unit also connected to the fronts. Should be interesting.

Update: As stated the 3-way switch has to be activated, nice that you can control upper and lower crossover points on the midbasses. Just like my old Orion 300 CRX.

switch the deck to 3 way mode, run the tweeters on high pass(goes up to 20khz)highpass Mids to midrange goes up to 20khz with a lowpass from 20-200hz. Then run the subs on the lows. Ya h i was on the same boat as you. they should have put 2 way passive and 2/3 way active on the manual.
