Cant figure this out.

Bought the mb quart onyx 1500.1D amp to power my 2 AQ SDC's. Hooked it all up awhile ago but it isnt any louder than the previous 250 rms kenwood kac-7205 i had em running off. I have set gains and everything. The subs are wired to 1 ohm. I know some of you have seen me before askin about this ut i figured i would try to figure it out once more before giving up. Also the kenwood amp specs dont say anything about 1 ohm. But i used that amp with it for months and never had a problem. Can you do that with the amp or does this mean the subs are not 1 ohm?

Its a custom made box i got off ebay. Came with the aq subs. Its HUGE and i only know its tuned to 35 hz :/ All stock electrical no big 3 or anything. 08 ford focus sedan.

few problems... cant tell if the box you have is actually designed for the drivers... and that HU needs to go... very low pre-out voltage on sony's.

which sdc's are you running, 2.0's or 2.5's?

Check ur filters. Sounds like ur low pass is too high. Also check ur hu, you may not be getting bass because of poor mp3s, or ur hu.

But it was loud with the other amp so shoudnt it be louder? Like at least noticible even if it is a crappy HU?

The HU has not LPF or HPF just low mid high and sub settings. The amp has a low pass and i have messed around with it and it didnt do anything.

sony xplod cdx-gt35uw is the HU. The subs are 2.5's.

Oh and what do you guys think about me running that kenwood kac-7205 at 1 ohm? The specs for that amp read : 250 watts at 4 ohm 170 at 2 ohms and 500 4 ohms bridged.

Did you buy the MB Quart new or used?......I have used several of those 1500.1 and they all pounded like sand.....

Bought it new off craigslist . Was still in the box with factory seal on it. He let me open it up and check it out and it was packaged exactly the same as some unboxing vids i have seen of it. Amp still wrapped in shrink plastic and what not. Also there are no signs of use like scratches on the top or marks where you screw down the wires.

Ok....then my suggestion would be to check all of the settings on HU and amp......If you are running a Sony hu it probably has no more than 2 volt pre-outs and that would require about 3/4 of a gain setting if those amps go from 0.2 to 6v.......

Ok and will a dmm tell me if my subs are wired to 1 ohm?

yes......but as you know that changes as you are playing music......you can check the final load at the amp with it OFF and see if it is in fact seeing a 1 ohm or close load....but that doesn't mean it stays that way.....impedance rise is something we all face in the audio world....

Wow that confused me lol im kinda of a noob to car audio to be honest. I thought if you wired your subs to 1 ohm the amp automaticly plays at 1 ohm?
