Can't decide. Opinions?

I'm getting ready to upgrade my headunit. It's a cheap Pioneer that I got from Wal*Mart a few years ago. DEH-6 model.

I've been wanting the Pioneer P880PRS for a while now. I actually got to play with it last weekend at a local audio shop and I loved it. Didn't really mess with all the settings but I liked how "clean and simple" it looked.

I also got really interested in the Eclipse CD3000. Not sure if that's their "top end" since I can't really spend a lot of money right now on the CD6000 or CD7000, but the 3000 is in my price range. I heard nothing but great things about Eclipse headunits, and that they have amazing SQ, which is what I'm wanting. Anything that sounds better/looks better/works better than my current HU.

The only thing I dislike about the P880 is the silver border. My dash is all black so I think that would stick out like a sore thumb and possibly look stupid. I do love how it looks tho.

The only thing I dislike about the Eclipse is it's "cluttered" in my opinion, but then again I like how it looks, and it would blend in with my dash.

Now, to help me pick out the best one, I'm wanting a big step up from what I got now. I plan on running my front/rear speakers off the HU until I get more money for a 2nd amp. I tried comparing specs on both but that really didn't help my choice.

I'll be buying the CD3000 from Crutchfield for $250 since no one else around here sells Eclipse stuff, and if I get the P880 I'll be getting it off Ebay for around $300.

Any opinions?

What type of area do you live in as far as crime?

(Sounds like a strange question, doesnt it?)

I ask only because my personal opinion would be that if I lived in an area with alot of crime I wouldnt want an indash unit that couldnt have its face removed like that Eclipse has.

Have u looked into the Kenwood x890? U can get that for around $250. My bro has a x890 and he loves it. 5.0v preouts and 24 bit DA convertor. He mainly got it cuse he wanted a HU with good SQ and a USB input tho.I can't really say much about the CD3k or the P880 tho. I am willing to back up the fact that Eclipse do make great HU's.

I live out in no where, gotta drive 30min to local stores. No one around here even cares about audio. Bunch of old people and rednecks. Crime isn't bad, but then again anything can happen so I can't say that for sure.

I don't care much for Kenwood. I've messed with a few and wasn't impressed. They're kind of ugly as well.

I did want an Alpine 9855 but people's feedback kind of made me think twice.

880 is a better choice than the 3000,now the 5000 or the 7000 is a better choice than the 880.
I'm not even so sure about that. The 880 is a much better value than the 7000 and just a flat out better deck than the 5000. But it all depends on what is needed features wise.
