Cancel rear fill upgrade? How many did this?

IMO if you have an adequate front stage, rear fill is unnecessary. I haven't had rear fill in 5 years, and haven't missed it a bit.
Yup, that's the moral of the story...i haven't had rear fill in over 2 years. I had some back there...powered off of my alpin v-drive HU (getting about 30rms x2) and i listened to music while turning the internal amp on the HU on and off...i did it for about 20 minutes, and i honestly could not notice the difference when i had rear fill on and when i didn't. SO, no rear fill for me. peace

Puttin any money situation aside, wouldnt it sound better say if you had a component set in the front and rear? tweeters in front and rear, as well as mids? Maybe its juss me but i like the sound not coming from only one direction //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/moon.gif.9d317aec3339ffe7fde0638df52c628a.gif
that would pull you sound stage to the rear. If you have your front components set up and tuned correctly...it SHOULD sound like the sound is coming from all around you...especially from the center of your dash. With my components and about 200rms per side...it sound exquisite...it fills my truck with sound! peace

As mentioned, having strong components in the back will pull the soundstage behind you. And, as the old example goes, when was the last time you went to a concert and any of the band members stood behind you?

i found that putting comps in some kicks with good power is all you need. it doesn't sound like the sound is coming from one side or the other, but it's centered. i drive a 95 jeep grand cherokee so it's big and i don't use rearfill. i don't give a shit if people sitting in the back can hear or not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a single cab truck so when I had the rear fill hooked up it would play right in my ear. Unhooked it and have never been more happy. Using the CDT CL-61s with a 90 watt JL amp, soon to be 300 watts to them!!

I just cooked the stock rear fills with an amp.POP ! goes the weasle, and my HK4000D wouldnt blow them, the protection wouldnt let me
Haha.. I did the same thing basically...

Hooked my BOSE door speakers out of my maxima(well, old car. sold it), and put it on my 601s amp. Things were movin so much. Left it on there for about 2 min's, and didn't blow. Weird... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif

not only that but when rear fill pulls back your soundstage it muddies everything up bad. you wouldnt notice until u a b tested it with a proper set up. if you are just running fronts and it doesnt sound right knock a tweeter or a mid on one side 180 degrees out of phase sooner or later you'll get it right (20 mins of work tops). with rear fill the sound literally fights with the front

like i said to each his own---and my idea of how i like y sound is coming from all around me not just from the front.---when i'm in my car i don't want to feel like i'm at a concert---i want to feel like i'm in my car with sounds coming from al around. but like i said it's all up to the owner of that car.

Not trying to put you down or tell you that you can't have your own opinion, because you can, but have you ever listened to a car that imaged and soundstage properly? Not just some guy down the street with components in his doors, but a car that was actually set up properly? Just curious //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If you have and you didn't like how it sounded, then mo' power to ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

I just think that normally people with a view similar to yours haven't heard a good and properly set up stereo. But I could be wrong. Like you said, it is an opinion thing.

propper front stage done right doesnt sound like its just in front of you. when done right it doesnt sound like speakers and you cant point them out when you shut your eyes

it depends on the fills location. i gave a 2000 gti and the rear fill is almost in my right ear so it acts almost like a front. i upgraded mu front to kappa perects and the rear fills lack of quality was annoying. if its in the rear package tray, you shouldn't really hear them if your front fill is up to par, imo.
