Can you suggest something that beats Crystal SSCS6?

I've finally got the cash to start my audio system. For my sub stage I'm either going with a 12" rl-p or a 10" jl w6. For front stage I was thinking of Crystals, but now I'm wondering if something better can be had. I've got 100w and $250 to work with. I listen to a mix of rap and rock. Thanks.

If you have heard the Crystals and like the way it sounds, then go for it. SQ, especially in comps, is going to be very subjective. You may very well get 10 posts saying somehting different. There is a bunch of info on various comp sets if you search.

Not much audio going around in my neck of the woods, so I haven't actually heard the Crystals. I'm basing it on what I've found on the forum so far. I guess I'm going for smooth w/ good midrange. SQ is the top priority though.

Although I havent heard the crystals, I would definately put my Rainbow SLC's up against them in a listening test. Best sounding component set Ive ever heard in the under 300 range, hell they sound nicer then some of the 500$ sets I was looking at.

I love my Crystals. I wouldn't trade them for anything in the $150-$250 range. I demo'd a lot of comps. Type-R, Diamond D6, Polk MOMO, CDT (don't remember the model #) , JL, Kicker, anything I could get my hands on in town. After hearing the Crystals in a well deadend door on a 100w, I was hooked. I run mine on 150w a side, and they sound awesome.

If you haven't heard the Crystals, it hard to compare. I have them installed in deadended doors and running approx 215 watts RMS a side and they love it. The tweets are smooth and the midbass is very good. The only thing I would like to see improved are the midrange, other than that, its a tough set to beat.

Thanks guys! I've narrowed my choices down to the Crystals or Rainbow SLC265s. I can get the Crystals from ROE for $160 and the Rainbows for $230 from 6spdCoupe. The price is making me lean towards the Crystals. I'm worried that the Rainbows are worth the price difference. I wish I was rich so I could just buy both.

if you have the 230 get the rainbows if you dont get the crystals. 6spd will take care of you.

Well a friend of mine just ordered a set of the crystals, so I will definately get to hearing and comparing them to my SLC's. both have the same car too, so install will be practically identical!

Dude, once he gets them installed and you hear them... LET ME KNOW!! I have come down to either the Crystals, or the Rainbow SLC's. So, it would be of TREMENDOUS help if you could do that for me. And others of corse....

they do pretty good on deck power vs others i've heard. they're decently efficient. it'll get you by until you amp them.

someone told me toxic taun can do $130 + shipping. that's a pretty darn good deal there.

i would like to check out rainbow's again and see if they've changed. a few years ago i was not impressed with their performance at all. all the reviews i've seen lately seem to have been either love or hate on their performance for the price.

I was about to get the Crystals for my veedub until I stumbled across the Type X components. Maybe you should add those to the list of possibilities to?
