What would you say about the crystals on a headunit for a while?

they do pretty good on deck power vs others i've heard. they're decently efficient. it'll get you by until you amp them.

someone told me toxic taun can do $130 + shipping. that's a pretty darn good deal there.

i would like to check out rainbow's again and see if they've changed. a few years ago i was not impressed with their performance at all. all the reviews i've seen lately seem to have been either love or hate on their performance for the price.

Well a friend of mine just ordered a set of the crystals, so I will definately get to hearing and comparing them to my SLC's. both have the same car too, so install will be practically identical!

I was about to get the Crystals for my veedub until I stumbled across the Type X components. Maybe you should add those to the list of possibilities to?

How do they compare to Crystals and Rainbows? I noticed that they're 75w rms, I'm assuming they can handle 100w?

They don't need as much power as some other components. It's not really a good basis for comparison, anyway.

General rule of thumb:

750w = twice as loud as 75w (10x the input power).

100w = dang near the same as 75w (negligent difference).

It's all in the install and the capability of the product.

I'd put the Type X Vifa made mids, tweets, and their awesome psv-xovers up against just about anything in the same price range (maybe even more expensive) and be willing to bet they would sound more natural/less colored in same type installations.

the crystals lacked midbass, rather than midrange imo.

for those who are running 150+ to their crystals, are you guys crossing them at 80? they sure have crazy *** excursions, but can they take them?

I have mine crossed @80hz w/ 150 going to each side.

I think the midbass is pretty good.

You wont be dissapointed man. I was curious as well until I got them installed in my car, then all the facts came right into place.

Not to mention this way you get to deal with an authorized seller who knows what hes talking about.
