can you mix battery brands

You can as long as they are the same battery type.

But most manufacturers will tell you to keep them charged and/or drive the vehicle regularly so the different batteries won't drain each other out (different internal resistances, float voltages, etc.)

the silly engineers at the place I used to work at told me if you dont have matching batts down to the lot number use a relay or isolator to get the most life out of them. The match ones will act close enough to one unit to be ok any other way will work but may be robbing you of some battery life. O by the way if you search this topic there are a million threads already
