Can you choose how much rms you send from your amp with a DMM?

Ok and next question is how do I properly break in a sub? Do I set the gain at like half the max rms? or do i put at at max and keep the subwoofer option on the head unit 0 out of ten, or even negative?
sorry, once you set the gain on the sub to match your system volume levels at 3/4 volume, just play them at a moderate level, say 30% volume for however long the manufacturer suggests. On mine, it is suggested to play them for 40 hrs a 1/3 volume to ensure a good break in. All of them are different though.

with the talk about using a gain knob, would it benifit me more not to use a gain knob when i compete?
We were talking about the frequency centered Bass Boost remotes. In your case, with the 50hz tune right close to cabin resonance?, the 45hz boost might be in your favor on the HDC 18 during a little drag contest with 3500 watts beating the crap out of it right at max compression....have you ran without it yet?

na. i have not competed with this amp yet. my scores listed in sig were from the PA BB2400.1 that i had. i could however tell a instant difference just by me switching amps that this dtr3400 i have now a bit more. i could hear and feel the difference. now i just need to get my HO alt put on.

Well.. When you use the DMM method, you set it at one freq 30-what have you.. Music isn't a constant tone... it is a lot of **** in more ****. So your impedance CURVE changes based on frequency... you can be getting more power at x frequency than at y frequency so the method is flawed. There is really now way to set at "900 watts" or whatever unless you're playing a constant tone and nothing else.
