Can this happen?

It is not the same. The sub has two sets of terminals because there are two separate voice coils. If you wire one channel to each voice coil t en you are running each channel at the ohm rating of that voice coil. If you where to bridge the two voice coils in parallel then you would have 1/4 the resistance of the ohm rating of one voice coils to each channel on the amp(ex. dual 4 ohm voice coil bridged in parallel would give you 1 ohm per channel)
